Marketing for business-loan origination platforms
Make the case for your software to banks and specialist business lenders. Perfomato helps origination-platform providers explain the operational change, prepare credible evaluation material and develop sales-accepted opportunities.
Discuss your marketing challengeChoose the lending operation your platform is built to serve.
Business lending is a useful market boundary, but it is not yet a campaign brief. A platform supporting smaller-business working-capital applications needs a different buying story from software for complex corporate credit. Start with the lender, the credit product and the part of origination your software handles.
Origination covers the work of taking a credit application through the steps needed to reach a lending decision. Your product may address the whole process or a defined part, such as application intake, document collection, assessment workflows or approval routing. Marketing needs to make that scope clear.
We work with your founder, marketing and commercial leaders to identify the relevant lender segment and the operational problem worth leading with. The objective is to earn a software evaluation by the lender’s team. Campaigns to attract businesses seeking a loan are a different assignment.
Show what would change between application and decision.
A feature list can describe document uploads, workflow rules and integrations without showing a lending team how its day would change. We help turn those capabilities into a concrete account of the current process, the proposed process and the work that remains with the lender.
That account should include exceptions. What happens when information is missing, a case requires manual review or a decision needs another approval? Product and lending specialists establish the accurate answer. Marketing makes the explanation understandable across the commercial brief, use-case page and sales demonstration.
Implementation responsibilities belong in the same story. Buyers need to know which data, systems, process decisions and people are involved in evaluating the proposed change. An integration claim should point to supported scope and dependencies, rather than allowing “connects to your stack” to carry the whole argument.
Give each evaluator a relevant basis for the decision.
Lending leadership needs to see the product’s relevance to its chosen business segment and operating priorities. A use-case narrative and a scoped business-case outline can help, provided assumptions about workload, adoption and value remain visible.
Credit and risk colleagues need to understand how the proposed workflow supports their evaluation and authority. Suitable material might show which information is available at each step, where a person reviews a case and how an action can be traced. Your product experts determine what the platform actually supports; marketing does not substitute a broad automation claim for that evidence.
Technology teams need an accurate view of interfaces, data requirements and the proposed implementation. Lending operations needs to examine handoffs, exception handling and changes to daily work. Procurement can then assess the proposed scope and supplier relationship against a consistent account of what is being bought.
We connect these materials so an interested lending sponsor can involve colleagues without having to reconstruct the proposition for each conversation.
A sample evaluation journey for an SME lender.
Illustrative example, not a Perfomato client case. Imagine a software provider whose origination platform supports a specialist lender’s working-capital applications from small businesses. The lender wants to examine how application information moves between its commercial team and credit reviewers.
The useful marketing asset is a journey the buying team can evaluate. It connects each step to a question and a concrete piece of material, without predicting approval rates or promising a faster lending decision.
Evaluation step | Question to resolve | Material and next step |
|---|---|---|
Recognise the fit | Question to resolve Does this address the kind of applications and lender we are? | Material and next step A focused use-case page leading to a relevant discovery conversation. |
Examine the workflow | Question to resolve How would intake, missing information and review handoffs work? | Material and next step A process walkthrough using an explicitly fictional application and a discussion with operations. |
Test the boundaries | Question to resolve Which decisions remain with our credit team, and what does the system record? | Material and next step Product-approved evidence of supported review steps and recorded actions, assessed by credit and risk. |
Scope implementation | Question to resolve What must connect, migrate or change before we could use it? | Material and next step A technical discovery outline with known dependencies and named owners. |
Agree an evaluation plan | Question to resolve What would we need to establish before committing? | Material and next step Agreed evaluation questions, decision participants and a dated next step recorded by sales. |

Build demand around a useful lender conversation.
We use the selected segment and operational problem to guide positioning, target-account campaigns, search content and sales enablement. The channel mix follows where relevant lending buyers can be reached and what evidence the proposition needs.
An initial response should carry context into sales: the lender type, relevant process, current question and people involved. A contact from a bank is not automatically a software opportunity. We agree what sales must establish before accepting one, then review the reasons that conversations progress, pause or fall outside scope.
For a longer evaluation, content should continue to do useful work. Follow-up can answer an unresolved workflow question, help a sponsor involve technology colleagues or clarify the proposed implementation. The aim is to support a real decision, with marketing’s contribution reported alongside the wider sales effort.
Connect the proposition, the campaign and the follow-through.
Full-Service Marketing gives the mandate CMO-level direction from Michel, day-to-day ownership from a Growth Lead and the required specialists. We bring product expertise, sales feedback and approved claims into a plan the team can execute.
The four-week Build aligns strategy and sets up the operating foundations, with the first priority campaign ready to launch. Run sustains delivery in two-week sprints for a custom fixed monthly fee. If a new lending segment or product direction requires a reset, Boost redirects normal Run capacity towards it, without a separate package or fee.
If you already have a strategy and delivery owner, Specialists on Demand can supply a defined capability. The scope may be narrower, but it still needs a clear brief, access to product expertise and an agreed handoff.
Practical questions
Is this marketing to lenders or attracting loan applicants?
This page concerns marketing a software proposition to banks and specialist business lenders. The lender’s lending, credit, operations and technology teams evaluate that software. Borrower acquisition is a different commercial task and is not the proposition described here.
Can you support software that covers only part of origination?
Yes, where the scope and audience fit. We make the supported workflow explicit, explain how it relates to the lender’s existing process and organise marketing around the problem your product can substantiate. We do not need to describe a specialist capability as a complete lending platform.
Which lending process makes the clearest case for your platform?
